Role
  • The role of Caregiver is to support those who have trouble managing simple day-to-day tasks, such as the disabled, people with disabilities or people with physical or mental illnesses. Your responsibilities as a caregiver include helping with personal treatment, prescribing medications and offering companionship. You are employed in the homes of their clients or in special care facilities.
Authority
  • Checking personal care which may include bathroom functions, bathing, grooming, dressing, and eating.
  • Checking client’s home
  • Monitoring and reporting changes in health, behavior, and needs.
Responsibility
  • Personal care assistance, which can include bathroom functions, bathing, grooming, dressing, and eating.
  • Following a approved healthcare program which may include exercise assistance and drug administration.
  • Ensuring that the customer’s home is organized according to their needs and security measures are in place. With some light housework, you may also be asked to assist.
  • Providing emotional support and incentive to carry out the necessary tasks.
  • Mobility assistance can be needed, such as getting the client in and out of bed, a chair or a wheelchair.
  • Carrying or escorting the client to clinical and other appointments.
  • Observation and monitoring of wellbeing, and needs.
Requirements
  • A Diploma from high school is required.
  • Additional education can be a plus.
  • Job experience and CPR training may be required.
  • A driver’s license may be highly requested.
  • A polite and competent approach.
  • A willingness to work flexible hours, including night shifts.
